March of Your Senior Year

Admissions decisions start arriving.  Read everything you receive carefully, as some may require prompt action on your part.

Revisit colleges that accepted you if it's hard to make a choice.  Think carefully about distance from home, overall climate of the school and if they offer the curriculum you are interested in.

Make sure all your FAFSA forms are filled out and check with your guidance counselors on scholarship opportunites you may be eligible for.

February of Your Senior Year

  1. Contact your colleges to confirm that all application materials have been received.
  2. Correct or update your Student Aid Report (SAR) that follows the FAFSA.
  3. If any special circumstances affect your family's financial situation, alert each college's financial aid office.
  4. File income tax returns early.  Some colleges want copies of your family's returns before finalizing financial aid offers.

This January, DoSomething.org has launched the 5th annual Teens for Jeans campaign which mobilizes teens to collect jeans to donate to homeless teens across the country.
